Muslim Women Faces discrimination on United : Tahera Ahmad was left in tears after her request for an unopened can of diet coke on the flight of the United Airlines was denied. Director of interfaith engagement and a Muslim chaplain at Northwestern University, Ahmad was on her way to Washington from Chicago for a conference, to promote dialog between the Palestinian and Israeli youth.
She asked for an unopened can of soda for the hygienic reasons, when she was that she couldn’t get one by the flight attendant, who then handed unopened beer can to a man seated nearby. When questioned as to why she refused to give her the unopened diet coke can, she responded that it might be used as a weapon.
